THE ROCK OF THE FOUNDATION
62Here is a song (lyrics )that i wrote tell me what you think about it ?
They say its a poem until you add music to it
I hope you like it
THE ROCK OF THE FOUNDATION
(1)Jesus is the rock of the foundation,The king of all creations
He can defeat all temptation, That comes our way
So hold on to Jesus, and he'll not let you stray
(Chorus)
You can shake the foundation,
But you'll not tear it down
And I'll stand for Jesus till they lay me down
(2)There's a war raging within your soul
Fighting a battle of who's in control
Sometimes it can take a toll ,and turn our heart cold
(3)But I know I've got Jesus, and I'm prepare to fight
No matter where I go I'll fight on and on
Till I make heaven my home
(4)The battle goes on and on there seems to be no end
It can dim the heart of any man and fill their heart with sin
Just hold on to Jesus and you will win
(5)Keep you light shining bright and prepare to fight the raging battle
Of what's wrong and what's right and don't lose your way
From the path you're on
just take hold of Jesus and he'll lead you home

Not a song writer but I do love poetry--you hit it right on the head with those words! I'd love to hear it as a song--I can imagine it sounding like a Third Day kind of song:)
Not sure if it would be a Third Day song or not. They tend to sing almost exclusively songs of praise and worship. I do love the lyrics though.
Maybe I can print the words off and see what I can do with them and take them to a friend, if you wouldn't mind.
Copied it to a wordpad and I love the lyrics. I think the chorus should go similar to the last line of the first verse.
Hold onto Jesus
Yes hold onto Jesus
Just hold onto Jesus
He'll never let you stray
What do you think? I kind have a melody that I think would work.
I will keep working at it until I come up with somehting. Now it may take a while but I will get it done. ;)
That would be great. Remeber also that I have written a few songs and we work those out also. I also play bass in a Church group.
Right on! I like the line where you speak of sin dimming the heart of man. Very nice!
SirDent--you're cool! Didn't know you were a musician:) I should give you one of my poems since my husband doesn't have the time to turn it into a song....
The lyrics make me think of how Randy Travis would sing it?? I like it a lot.
Good hub with good info.
Love it! I'll probably make a song out of your lyrics, and share it in our church. Will that be okay? Hehe.
I really like the end to your song,I wrote a song with my father about 6 years ago, called,Show Me The Lamb To Follow And I'll Follow Him Home.
Keep on singing and rejoicing,May The Father Bless You
I THINK I COULD WORK THIS INTO A SONG, I MIGHT HAVE TO CHANGE IT A LITTLE TO FIT THE RITHYM (PRONUCIATION) BUT THE THEME IS GOOD. KEEP IN MIND THAT MOST SONGS ARE NOT LONGER THAN 3.5 - 4 MINUTES. ANYWAY GOOD WORK. I LIKE IT. SAIL ON MYFRIEND SAIL ON
Great hub! I am also a born-again Christian. Keep up the good work!
Commentonthis7, is there any'finish' on your song here? I'd like to hear it sometime, as the poem itself has good rhythm.
I liked Sir Dent's chorus idea also! Give us more!

I love the message of the song. Not sure of a melody though. Nothing comes to mind but I believe it would if I worked at it a little.
